KENNY FONDU!

Okay Okay I know this is cheesy but I want to do it anyway. I have seen it on other people's blogs that I stalk.

1. Who is your man? Kenneth Fudge Lacey III (hence the nickname listed in the title!)
2. How long have you been together? 6 years (wow that's a long time)
3. How long did you date? We started dating September 20, 2002. Got engaged November 04. Got married May 2006
4. How old is your man? He is 26. But it is funny we can never remember how old each other are.
5. Who eats more?  This is a toughy.  He definitely eats more often but we can both hold our own in the eating department.  It just shows more on me.
6. Who is taller? He is 6'3.  He's tall.  I am 5'4.
7. Who sings better? He is a good singer.  But I am better. Not good enough to be a broadway star to my disappointment.
8. Who is smarter? We both are very intelligent.  (that's a diplomatic answer right)
9. Whose temper is worse?HIS!
10. Who does the laundry? I do it most of the time but he helps.
11. Who takes out the garbage? He does.
12. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me. I think.  Are we facing the bed when we ask this question or are we in the bed?
13. Who pays the bills? I pay the bills because its kind of crazy how much joy I get out of paying the bills.  I love it!  And it takes the stress off of Kenny.
14. Who is better with the computer? I am better with Macs, he is better with PCs.  We both actually have a lot of skills with different design programs though.
15. Who mows the lawn? We do not have a lawn but when we do.  Kenny will.  I love it when boys smell like cut grass.
16. Who cooks dinner? Me.
17. Who drives when you are together? Kenny does.  He says I am not a very good at parking.  He always makes me re-do it.
18. Who pays when you go out? He does.
19. Who is most stubborn? He is.
20. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? I am.
21. Whose parents do you see the most? We see our parents about the same.
22. Who kissed who first? He kissed me first.
23. Who asked who out? He asked me out a lot before I finally went.  (I had a b/f at the time)  But I sure am glad I went. (after I broke up with the b/f of course)
24. Who proposed? He did.  It was amazing.
25. Who is more sensitive? I am. But he can be very sensitive.
26. Who has more friends? He does.  I hate to talk on the phone so I lose touch with people easier.  Kenny is a really great friend.

SOME OF MY FAVES!

So I thought I would post about how much I have been enjoying volunteering at the Humane Society. It has been so much fun, despite the cold weather. Kenny has also been having a lot of fun doing it. We really lucked out in the day we chose to volunteer. The Tuesday dog walking group is really laid back. While other groups focus on getting every dog out for a few minutes, our group focuses more on taking fewer dogs out for a longer period of time (follow me). So basically we get to get those cuties out kennel by kennel and let them go play in this huge play yard with lots of running room and toys.

The hard thing has been not getting attached. Kenny and I made the mistake of really getting attached to a little dog named Zulu with funny ears one week and then the next week he got adopted. Which was great but I felt sad I could not say good-bye to the little guy. So here are some of my favorites:

This is Georgia. And I am happy to say that Georgia is going to be going to a very good home soon. Susan's friend, Andrew is adopting her. She is a hound dog and is so sweet and calm. And this is Huckleberry. Sorry about the picture being a little messed up. Huckleberry is such a handful. He is so full of energy and he makes you want to laugh they way he looks at you. And this is Chloe. Isn't she adorable. I walked her yesterday one on one and she was so sweet and playful. She was so much fun playing tug of war and then she pulled my glove off my hand and took off. She was so proud that she had gotten it. It took a little while for me to get it back from her. It is really sad because when she was letting me pet her and love on her I saw scars all over her head and face. It's crazy that these dogs have been what they have been through and are still so sweet and loving.

I am sure I will have a new favorite from week to week but going out there every week really is so uplifting. I beg anyone to read this who might be thinking about getting a dog to go out there and visit some of these dogs and really get to know them. So many of them have fantastic personalities and would love to have a permanent home!

WHAT WAS I THINKING?

I feel that I must apologize for not recognizing the importance of listing everyone that honored us with their presence Saturday night while watching the Memphis vs. UT game. I made a grave mistake by not doing this and I am sincerely sorry. So for the record two of our very very close friends Michael Lowe and Daniel Bauer were also in attendance Saturday night. They were also fresh off a big win at the poker table or black jack table or the slots ( I dunno) at the Dog Tracks so they were especially good company being in such high cheer. I will never ever forget to include everyone in the list of people we hang out with ever again. Lowe and Danny B this is for you!

GOOD FOOD! GOOD ENTERTAINMENT!

This weekend was a low key weekend that pretty much centered around eating and entertainment. On Friday night Kenny and I just ordered some chinese food to go from Pei Wei(that place is awesome)and headed to blockbuster. A lot of the good movies were gone. We especially wanted to see We Own the Night with Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix but there were no copies. So we settled on the Bourne Ultimatum. As we are walking out the door, I see through the glass that one copy of We Own the Night has been placed on the shelf so we rushed back in to get it. It was very very good, I would definitely recommend it.

Saturday morning I had made this French Toast casserole thing for breakfast. I got the recipe from a random blog that I stalk on occasion(yes I stalk blogs ha ha).But it was a very simple recipe and was so delicious. If you would like the recipe just let me know! Kenny loved it so I will definitely be making it again. Then Kenny and I got out and went to the new Vineyard Vines store. That store has some seriously cute stuff for guys and girls. Kenny would buy everything in there if he could. He loves their stuff.

Saturday night you can probably guess what we did. I mean come on we live in Memphis. It was only the biggest game of the year. #1 vs #2 and all in the same state. University of Memphis vs. University of Tennessee. Tickets were going for ridiculous amounts of money. We are talking in the thousands. I wish I would of had some tickets because I for sure would have been selling them. But since we didn't we had a few people over to watch the game. We just ordered pizza and hung out. It was very relaxed and a lot of fun. I had not gotten to see Tracy and Joe in a few weeks and they came over. But to everyone's shock Memphis lost. It was really hard to believe considering they were undefeated. But it was still a lot of fun to watch a game that was such a big deal in this city.

On Sunday we had a lazy Sunday. Which are the best kind. I tried out a new recipe for chicken spaghetti that turned out really good and we watched the Oscars. I enjoyed the Oscar's more than usual this year because I had actually had seen a lot of the movies that were nominated. Remember this guy!I still get shivers down my spine when I see clips of this movie. And my dumb self is actually considering going with Kenny to see it again tomorrow because I want him to know my fear. So we ate a good dinner and watched the Oscars. It was a very good relaxing weekend. And we will have lots of yummy leftovers that last into the week.

IT MAKES ME SMILE EAR TO EAR

UPDATE: WHAT A COINCIDENCE! JON AND KATE AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY WILL BE APPEARING ON OPRAH TODAY! TUNE IN!

I haven't had an obsessive television post in a while so here you go! Have you seen this show. Jon and Kate Plus Eight. It literally makes me smile and so happy when I watch it. It is a fantastic show. Of course it is a reality show but this really is quality television at its top.

A little overview: Jon and Kate Gosselin wanted children and turned to fertility drugs for help. They had twin girls. When they wanted ONE more, they turned to fertility drugs again and got SIX more. So they have a set of twins and a set of sextuplets. On the show it shows Kate's daily routine of taking care of all of the 8 children. And they are some beautiful children. They started this reality show following their daily lives I think after they did a one hour special on the family and people loved it so much they turned it into a weekly show. So the cameras have shown these kids growing up since they were 8 month olds and now they are almost four. So you really do feel like you know them all because you have watched them grow up.

I called my sister yesterday while watching my Tivod episode ( I do not miss a single one) and told her that if the show ever came out on DVD that I had to have all of the seasons. This weeks episode was the Christmas episode and it made me realize what great parents Jon and Kate are. They do such an amazing job with those kids, and yes they bicker but come on its their real life who would not bicker with their significant other when you have that many three year olds. Not to be cheesy they truly are an inspiration to the type of parents I want Kenny and I to be.

SOUP SUNDAY

So I know that this post is a little overdue but it was such a great event that I have to post about it. It involves two of my favorite things. Charities and eating! I am sure any of you that are from Memphis have heard of this event but for those of you who have not let me tell you how awesome it is. On February 10th the non-profit organization Youth Villages has Soup Sunday. Tickets are like $15 dollars and basically what that gets you is one of those cardboard drink holders. You know the things you get at baseball games to carry multiple drinks. And then here is the best part. All you do is walk around and EAT! And for a soup lover like me this is heaven.

At Soup Sunday over 60 of Memphis' most well know restaurants offer up their time and one of their tastiest soups. They might also have a good piece of cheese toast or a roll to go with your soup or some had delicious desserts. So you walk the loop around the FedEx forum armed with your drink carrier and you just go from booth to booth taking samples of soup from each restaurant. They are generous samples, usually the size of half a styrofoam cup. Some of the soups might even be served in a crusty bread bowl. Susan went with me to this and we had a blast. There were so many kinds of soup; seafood gumbo, beer cheese soup, crab bisque, lobster biqsue, mushroom bisque (lots of bisques) and oh my lordy the desserts. That was the one mistake Susan and I made. Early on we found the BEST blackberry cobbler I have ever put in my mouth. We kept going back for seconds and thirds. So we filled up pretty fast. We were so stuffed after an hour and a half or so. But the soups were just so good!

The event also had a large band for entertainment and some activites for kids. So it really is the perfect way to get your Sunday lunch. I will never ever miss this event and can't wait for next year!

ANOTHER LOOONG WEEKEND

It was another long eventful weekend. We stayed plenty busy but managed to get some rest too.

Friday night Kenny and I had made plans to go to dinner and a movie. We went and ate at Sauces downtown on Main Street. We started to walk over to the movie theatre to see Fool's Gold. On the way we encountered this little Jack Russell barking at a carriage horse. The carriage could not move so we distracted the dog so the carriage could keep going. The little guy almost got hit by a trolley so we decided we needed to help him because he obviously had a home and an owner. He was wearing a collar and was very clean and well fed. We picked him up and looked for his owner for a while and nobody seemed to be looking for him. So we took him home. Saturday morning I woke up and made fliers and "Lil Dude" (that's what we were calling him) and I walked around Main and hung them up. Still no owner. Needless to say as the day went on we were growing fond of "Lil Dude."

Saturday night we had plans with my friends Susan and this cute new boy she is seeing. We were headed out the door when I got a phone call. It was the owner! He had found one of my fliers. He was so excited. "Lil Dude's" name was Jack and his owner came to pick him up. Kenny and I were sad. I couldn't believe how quickly I had gotten attached. We took some farewell pictures to remember little Jack. How adorable is he!So after we said goodbye to Jack. We met up with Susan and Andrew. A group of us went to Bluefin for dinner. It was soo good. It is one of my favorite restaurants. I had not had it in a while. Kenny and I ate a lot! Then we went over to Flying Saucer. There was a good band playing and some of our other friends were out after being at a wedding reception. I was disappointed though because we never got to see them that night! (you know who you are!)
Here are some pictures from the night.  Isn't Susan's new friend cute!  He is a sweetheart!
On Sunday Kenny and I just hung out. We went out to the driving range for a little bit. Other than that. I cooked a yummy pot roast for dinner and Susan and Andrew came over for dinner. Nothing too major. Last night Kenny and I went to see Fool's Gold with Kate Hudson and Matthew Mcconaughey. It was silly. It was not as good as How to Lose a Guy but it had it's cute moments. Its kind of sad but after that long weekend I am already ready for Friday to be here.

LENA THE CARNIVORE

So yesterday was Lena's birthday. So of course we had to celebrate. Kenny called me mid afternoon and we discussed what sort of toys we wanted to buy her. We agreed that a good sturdy chew toy would do and I suggested getting her one of those gigantic white bones. She loves them and she will diligently chew threw one in a day or so. Needless to say, this is what Kenny came home with.I mean this thing still had meat on it! And the smell! Oh my lord, the smell! Lena L-O-V-E-S it! She is literally in dog heaven. But dog heaven is going to have to stay outside on the porch.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LENA!

I know I have already posted today. But I should have already introduced you to the other member of our family. And on top of that its her birthday. So you get a double post.

Lena is our beloved chocolate lab and five years ago she was born. We got her three months later. Kenny and I had been dating almost a year. It was summer time and Kenny had decided he wanted a dog. I hated dogs! Hated is actually an understatement. I begged him not to get one. And to top it all off he wanted a big slobbery, smelly dog, a LABRADOR RETRIEVER! Yuck! My one condition was if he did get a lab, to please get a chocolate because I liked those best. Being the really nice girlfriend I am, when I went home to Hattiesburg one weekend I looked in the paper and they had lab puppies listed. So we went out there....and there she was. She was covered in mud because the owners had a lake. On the ride home I made my sister hold her because I was not going to hold that filthy puppy. (don't worry this story ends well)

Needless to say, Lena is now the other love of my life and Kenny's. We adore her. She really is a great dog. She is so smart, and gentle natured. If I am crying at a movie, or a tv show or heck a commercial, Lena will come cuddle with me and get right under my neck. She is not aware that she is 70lbs. I will stop rambling about how awesome she is. Because people will probably make fun of me for writing this much in the first place. But until we have children what else do I have to brag about.

Happy 5th Birthday Lena!!!!

BOYS WEEKEND=GIRLS WEEKEND

Kenny and I spent some time apart this weekend. He went off to a cabin with a bunch of boys for a bachelor party for Dan Anderson. Dan is getting married in March and Kenny is one of the groomsman. So Friday night I sent Kenny off with the boys and I looked forward to a nice relaxing weekend full of girl time. Friday night I met up with my friends Susan and Alex and their friend Carly. We went and ate at Mollie's. Its a Mexican restaurant and I personally did not think it was that good. Then we headed over to see a movie at Studio on the Square. Considering it was a girls night, we did not pick a very girly movie. Susan was insisting that we see a movie that was nominated for an Oscar. So.....we went and saw No Country for Old Men.

How scary is this dude???? Let me tell you that this movie was amazing. But I was terrified!!!! It was by far one of the scariest movies I have seen in years. And when Susan dropped me off afterwards I was so scared to go inside in fear that this man was going to be sitting in a chair waiting for me. But I would definetely go see this movie. It is worth it.

Saturday, I just got out and did some shopping and running errands. When I checked in with Kenny they were just hanging out at the cabin playing poker and drinking. Doing what boys do. Saturday night they all went to a great steakhouse and had a big dinner, watched the State game and headed to the casinos. From what Kenny has told me, no one won any money. But they had fun anyway. As far as my Saturday night I went over to Susan's house where she was having a small get together to celebrate her birthday. Sorry I don't have any pictures. Kenny took the camera and well this is what happens when you send the camera off with the boys but there are no girls to make them take pictures. These are the pictures I got......

Aren't those so exciting! Sunday, Susan and I went to Soup Sunday. But I will blog about that later this week. It was a really great event. Kenny got home that afternoon and we were both really tired so we watched The Grammys which were actually really good this year and went to bed early. How is it already Monday!

PEDIGREE! I BEG YOU!

Every morning my routine is to wake up, take a shower and then when I get out of the shower I turn on the Channel 5 news which leads into the Today show at 7:00. I love the Today show. I watch the news while I get ready for work. But for the past few weeks every morning I hear the same music and the same man's voice come on. Its a Pedigree commercial. And then I am sad.

Let me preface this little spill by saying that I think that what Pedigree is doing is really amazing. They are one of the most well know companies for dog food and they are really fighting for these animals that everyone loves. If you don't know, Pedigree has a huge campaign going right now called Pedigree Adoption Drive. Their whole premise is they encourage anybody who is thinking about adopting a shelter dog to go to their website and get the facts. Because nothing makes them happier than when a "shelter dog" simply becomes a "dog." Please if you have time go to their website. They have done a great job with it. Maybe it will inspire someone to help.

BUT WHY MUST THEY TORTURE ME!

Have you seen these commercials. I want to cry everytime I see one. And now they are releasing new ones. Just sitting here writing about them makes my heart hurt. The one I saw yesterday was this adorable dog rolling around in this nice house. And the man comes and says "The Smiths got a new condo, but they don't take dogs." And then flash.......adorable dog in a cage at the shelter. OH MY GOD!

Or about the story of Echo. You have to go to the sight and watch this commercial. It will make you want to go adopt a dog right now. Isn't he cute. They show him all alone in his little cage and then he hears people coming so he gets up and gets all excited. And the people just walk right by him. And then the man says " For every dog that gets adopted......one doesn't." Uuuuuugh!

I know that these commercials get people's attention the most. And obviously it is something that resonates with people who love dogs. But I do not know how much more I can take!

SUPER BOWL: GIANTS 17;PATRIOTS 14

Kenny and I had some people over for a Superbowl party last night. It was a lot of fun. I love making food for these sorts of things and we had so much of it! I heard on the news the other day that the Superbowl is the second biggest day of the year centered around eating after Thanksgiving. Can you believe that? This is the picture of the table BEFORE everyone got to our house. We had so much food and it was all so good. Our friend Sarah made these awesome Oreo ball things. They were so delicious. I am going to have to try them soon! Apparently you just crush up oreos and add cream cheese then you dip them in melted chocolate. But thanks to everyone for bringing stuff. We definitely did not go hungry. Our friends Lowe and Lauren came and brought their cute cute cute baby Shelton. She is 9 months old and is just learning to crawl so we had her down on the floor trying to get her to crawl. She was a little preoccupied with this fantastic new toy on the market called the "Red Cup" or something like that. I do not know a lot about these things because I am not a parent yet. But isn't she so adorable! Shelton is the first baby in our group of friends so she gets lots of attention. Kenny absolutely adores her. We want to start babysitting in the very near future. She is such a good baby.

Anyway, enough goo gaa gaaing, the Giants pulled a huge upset and beat the Patriots, ruining their perfect undefeated season. And as much as I hate for Ole Miss to have the bragging rights of Eli Manning. We really were glad to see Eli pull this one out. It was a pretty boring game until the end. And sadly I was not paying very much to the commercials either. But I will say my favorite one was with the parade balloons that were going after the Coca Cola. That one was really good. I can't believe football is over. Almost time for March Madness! And I have also been warned fantasy baseball starts soon. (It never ends)

SO MUCH COOLER ONLINE

My mom and I went to the Brad Paisley concert last night. We had such a good time. She got here in the late afternoon and Kenny and my mom and I went to Movie and Pizza for a little pre-concert grub. Then my mom and I were off to the concert. We ended up having great seats. A couple people opened for him. Bear with me because I don't exactly keep up with country music.

The first guy was Chuck Wicks. He was really young (and kinda cute) he apparently has a big song out right now called "Stealing Cinderella." He sang it and it really was a cute song.

Then the next guy that sang was Rodney Atkins. I knew a lot of his songs. He sings this really good song about he and his son called "Watching You", and another song called "These are My People." He was very entertaining and his little boy came out at the end and it was really sweet.

Here is a picture of my mom and me right before it started. I took it myself so pardon the extreme closeup. I wonder if those people behind us were laughing at us. I hope not. Then came BRAD PAISLEY, my mom was so excited. But first let me tell you what I got the most excited about!!!! His wife is Kimberly Williams.....you know this girl.......She is in the one of the BEST chick flicks of all times Father of the Bride. And so Brad Paisley is about to come on and here Kimberly (we are on a first name basis) comes with another girl, and they sit her down right in front of us. She is sooo tiny. I can not believe how tiny she was! I wanted to get my picture with her so bad but she left right before the concert was over and she went out a different way so I could not get her attention. Sad huh.......So I spent a lot of my time at the concert watching her. I get so starstruck its ridulous. My heart starts beating fast and I start having daydreams of going backstage with her and Brad and hanging out with the girl from the Father of the Bride. Anyway.....where was I.

The concert really was a lot of fun. Brad Paisley is very attractive and fun to watch. His show is very upbeat with lots of lights and loud guitar music. He sang his song alcohol and on the screen they had taken pictures of a lot of bars in Memphis. It was neat. All in all we had a really great time. I was so happy to share the experience with mom and for her to see one of her favorite country singers.
