LAST DAYS OF SCHOOL AND FIELD DAY

I am here writing to you on the first official day of summer vacation! Elle is out of school and we are headed to the library and the car wash shortly while Walker is at PDO and then we will be at the pool all afternoon. I mentioned earlier in the week that Elle went for half days most of the week. They had a class party day, a movie day and then the big field day. It was all lots of fun but we are all ready to sleep a little later and to not get dressed first thing in the morning if we don't want to!

Because of rain they had to switch field day to the last day of school so I went ahead and did Elle's end of the year picture on her class party day.  I love the comparison pictures from the first and last day of school but it also just breaks my heart at how much she has grown!
Ready for one of her last days of school!

I love this smile.
First and last day. I don't remember her having any baby left in her face
when we started the year but it is all gone now.
Meet the teacher and kindergarten graduation comparison picture.
Class party day they also had a surprise birthday party for their assistant teacher Mrs. Kristi.
They were so excited to surprise her and she loved the special attention!
I had to grab something at the Lodge one day and picked up this ball for Walker. He was thrilled!

So Thursday was the last day of school and the big Field Day. They got the absolute best weather. It rained all week but then it was like 70 degrees out and not a cloud in the sky! This was Elle's first year to be part of the real competition. They divide grades K-6th into two teams and then they compete! The competition is fierce and Elle had lots of fun. I did not volunteer to work the event but came at the end to see Elle and bring her home.  When I got there Mrs. Wendy told me that Elle had gotten her foot clipped by the big heavy door and she had a big gouge in her heel but that she was so brave and didn't even cry and was still a trooper for field day! Elle's team did not win field day but she wasn't too upset by it. After some sweet goodbyes with her teacher I took her with me and she wanted to get a Happy Meal at McDonalds so I took her by there before we headed home to relax and start the summer!
She wanted pigtails for field day!

She was really sad when we got in the car.

That afternoon I sat outside and read in the yard because the weather was so nice and Walker joined me. The weather was just so pretty!
Elle came out and had drawn this picture for Mrs. Wendy.
Walker got himself all situated too. He was cracking me up.
Went upstairs and got him a book too.

END OF THE YEAR KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

Monday morning Elle and her class had their Kindergarten Program at school. Our school doesn't have an actual graduation ceremony with caps and gowns so this was it! We were excited. It started first thing that morning and we got there early as one does for these things at school. People do not play. We scored some good seats and luckily had chosen the right side that Elle sat on. After a little while they all came filing in in their Sunday attire. Which I have to say those sweet church clothes are better than a cap and gown in my opinion. I would of liked to bring Walker so he could be there but I was not sure how he would handle it and would of hated to be distracted for the occasion. It is fun to look forward to his kindergarten program and I will be able to pull out of her class then and she will get to come watch his. And then I will cry and cry!

The actual program was very sweet and cute. They did lots of little songs that showed us all they had learned. It was funny to me because they were all the songs that I had heard every day after school from the last year. But I would only hear bits and pieces. During the program they sang all the songs in their entirety. Then they did a alphabet bible verse and Elle had letter M. We have been practicing her verse. My help comes from the Lord. She did great! Once the program was over we took lots of pictures before going to collect Elle's backpack in her classroom.  We originally planned to let her stay at school for the rest of the day which dismissal was at 12. But she wanted to go with us so we decided to take her out for breakfast and let her choose wherever she wanted to go. We pushed a little for Starkville Cafe but since she had just had that over the weekend she jumped at the chance to hit up Waffle House. I didn't mind because their waffles are delish. After breakfast we went home to play before going to pick up Walker at PDO. Onto first grade for Elle! But first comes summer!
Waiting on the guests of honor to arrive.
Here they come and we found Elle.
Look at those smiles she was shooting at us. Makes my heart want to burst.

Elle and Quinn doing their "M" bible verse.
I can't remember what these happy face plate things were about but they were funny.
At the end of the program they told all of them to sit up big and smile super big so their parents could take on last picture. It was so adorable. Goodness I know I sound so gushy but they are such babies and I know it is all going to go by in a blink of an eye.
Proud of our girl after her program.

She has more than anyone in the class. Proud parents of course.
Enjoying our celebration brunch. It was so good. I love love
their waffles and I am happy Elle does too!

MAY WEEKEND THIS AND THAT

We are in the last week of school! Woo hoo! I, like everyone else, feel like we are crawling over the finish line.  Elle has all half days this week and is completely done on Thursday. Yesterday we had her Kindergarten Graduation program but before I do a post on that I thought I would do a this and that post to recap the weekend.

On Friday evening we went to one of the last baseball games for the season. It was a pretty evening and extra special because it was our last time to be at Dudy Noble before they tear down the Left Field lounge and redo the whole stadium. It is a little sad that the stadium that is known for being so special will change. We had hot dogs for dinner and Elle had a friend come see her and they went to the jumpies for a little while. I also pulled out some binoculars that I bought for the kids and Walker and Elle really enjoyed playing with those and looking at the game extra close.
Enjoying the snacks at the game as he always does.
It was a little warm until the sun went down but after that it was really nice.

He thinks he is so big when I let him drink out of his own water bottle.
Taking in the sights with her new binoculars.
On to the next snack.

This is a picture of Elle hitting her Daddy up for dip n dots ice cream.
Walker ate and licked every drop of that dip n dots too.
Selfie with Walker while Elle was with her friend.

Saturday was our 11 year wedding anniversary! We told Elle since she was still too little to worry with a gift that all we wanted was a nice morning out as a family. She thought that was funny. She will understand one day. Especially with a 2 year old. So we loaded up and went to the farmers market for a little while and then went and had breakfast at Starkville Cafe. We also popped into a children's boutique to get Elle some new shoes before coming home.

Later that afternoon we had a sitter come so Kenny and I could go on a casual date to celebrate our anniversary. We originally planned to go to the baseball game that was scheduled for that afternoon but it was pouring rain. So we opted for his and her pedicures which we are totally not above and then went to see the movie Snatched with Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn and then went to a nice dinner. It was very low key and relaxing! We were home and in bed by 9 just the way we like.

Anniversary pedicures!
On our way home from dinner we drove past the house where Kenny proposed on Lumus.

Sunday morning we went to Sunday school and church and then came home and got dressed and headed to the pool. It was supposed to rain that afternoon and the new country club pool had just opened this weekend so we wanted to make the most of our time. We got there before it opened though and had to wait a little bit. Oops! But the weather ended up clearing up and we had the best afternoon. The new pool is so nice and the club has added a snack shack and all kinds of fun stuff so we are in for a super fun summer! The  new pool also has a zero entry which is perfect for Walker's age. He was a little slow to warm up but once he got comfortable with the water he had the best time! He will be jumping off the diving board by the end of the summer I bet!
He was not happy at all with Kenny putting on his puddle jumper.

Like really mad.
Venturing into the water with Daddy.
Pool break and ice cream sandwiches for everyone!
