We spent a day at home after Christmas. The kids played and played with their toys and I tried to straighten up the house and pack so we could leave for Fairhope the next day. We left the next morning. It was very cold out and we were to sure to pack lots of warm clothes because it was supposed to be super cold in Fairhope too! On our way down there, close to Meridian we passed a wrecking service that had painted cars that looked like Lightning McQueen and Mater. We decided to stop and let Walker get out and closer to them. He of course wanted his picture next to them but didn't want to get too close to the actual car. Plus it was super cold so it was a very quick but cute stop!
Posing with Lightning McQueen.
Mater was a lot bigger so he didn't want to get as close to him.
We got into Fairhope early afternoon and when we got to Gramma and PopPop's house the kids were super excited to open their presents from them. They got some really fun things. Kenny and I decided to wait and exchange presents with Gramma and PopPop later that night because Kenny got busy putting toys together and the kids wants to play with Gramma for a while too!
Ready to open presents.
Excited for their PJ Masks and the PJ Masks Headquarters base thing they received too.
Hugs and kisses from Gramma and PopPop.
Enjoying chocolate cake and a cartoon.
Our other days in Fairhope were super relaxing. One day Gramma took Walker and Elle to the movies to see Ferdinand and Kenny and I were able to have breakfast, do some shopping and then go see a movie ourselves. We went to see Downsizing which turned out to be super weird. Another day Gramma took Elle to get a manicure and pedicure and to run errands and Kenny and I took Walker with us and went shopping at a few of our favorite stores downtown.
Walker and Daddy hanging out in a comfy chair while I did some browsing.

Showing off her nails!
On Friday evening all of Kenny's family came over to hang out for a little while. It was so nice to see everyone and visit! We were able to see Kenny's aunt who we had not seen in a while and his cousins too! I was happy Elle got to meet everyone since she's older now.
Family visiting time!
Elle sat on our laps and listened to everyone talk.

The night before New Year's Eve it is our tradition to go on a nice dinner date to celebrate the New Year. We don't enjoy New Year's Eve and all the fanfare around it plus staying up late. So we like to go out the night before and do things the way we like to. Which here lately is late afternoon-early evening dates. On this night we cancelled our fancy dinner reservation to the Wash House and decided to go over to Sunset Pointe by the marina for cocktails and small plates. We even managed to catch sunset! After we were done at Sunset Pointe we went over to another restaurant for a baileys and coffee nightcap and a dessert. It was a fabulous date night!
Sunset in Fairhope!
This is Kenny's cousin, Jeff's boat. He does private charters from that very spot!
Headed in to get some dessert.
On New Year's Eve it was time to head home. We stopped at our new favorite coffee shop The Warehouse before we got on the road.
Walker enjoying his donut.
Elle chose a sticky bun.
New Year's Eve for our family was much like any other night. We had family dinner. I picked up this really yummy crawfish gravy that we love from a restaurant in Fairhope and served it over biscuits with green beans and then we had some dessert. The kids were super tired but Elle managed to squeeze in some makeovers for her and I before bed. Kenny and I enjoyed just hanging out and watching the NYE news coverage on different channels. We went to bed around 10 or so but kept waking up off and on and actually managed to see midnight!
Charlie was so happy we were home from Fairhope and got lots of cuddles.
Showing off our makeup from the makeover's Elle did.
Walker was so tired and fell asleep before Kenny could even read him a book.
Elle slept walked and came down at some point and crawled into
Kenny's lap and fell right back to sleep.
