ELLE GETS A BIG GIRL ROOM!

We finally got it done! Elle's room (except for the playroom) was the last big project that we needed to do to kind of finish the decor of the house.  Her room is pretty big and with the moves over the last few years it had just become a modge podge of the nursery and the room she had at the condo! It was pitiful.  Most of all she needed a bigger bed.  It was difficult to snuggle up with her every night and try to read books in her twin bed.

Here are a few before pictures!
Wall that the bed faces.

Book shelves that we have had since before kids.  They originally were
in our office in our Memphis home.
This was after we had the wallpaper for the "new room" put up.
But you can see her old bed and everything else!
We had Elle's new bed and mattress delivered from a furniture store here in Starkville.  They are both Ashley of course! Elle was super excited about her new comfy mattress and how big it was!
The new bed in the old room!

So my miracle worker, Kim and her assistant Megan came in town on Wednesday and worked their magic once again! I could not be more pleased with the results and I feel confident that this room will last Elle for many years to come. Elle was absolutely thrilled with it and I have the sweetest video of her seeing it all after she gets home from school.  She was so observant to all the new and improved things and was so grateful! We moved the desk and sofa we had on our landing upstairs into her room and I am so glad that we were able to repurpose those items. So here are some after pics that Kim took and sent me!

Kim found the perfect piece of furniture and the perfect spot for Elle's dollhouse!
So happy to have a decent place to put all those stuffed animals!

 Adore these lamps!

Love seeing it from the window!
I think she likes the desk in her room the most! She feels like such a big girl!
Cute and comfy bedding!
Cozy at night.
We were all snuggled up on her first night!
Love looking at all her special things on this wall.
I will be ordering pictures to put in the frames soon!

JUNIOR AUXILIARY KENTUCKY DERBY PARTY 2016

So I mentioned yesterday that we had our our big JA Charity Event was on Saturday and it gives me so many cute pictures that I decided to post all the pictures from that separately!  Saturday afternoon I put Walker down for a nap and hopped in the shower and then had the babysitter come a little early so I can spend some time primping.  This is a fun event to primp for and that can be hard to do with lots of kids in the bathroom! Eek!

After I was done getting ready Margaret came over and then we went to pick up our friends Sarah and Natalie and Jeremy.  We were all working the early shifts so we had to be there before the party started.  Jeremy was working the bourbon room so he rode out with us too.  Kenny and Jay arrived to the party later!  The party is out at a barn about 20 minutes out of town or so!
Selfies in the car! Sarah and me!
Natalie, Sarah and me!

I signed up to work the wine bar right at the front door so I could still be out and about to talk to everyone.  Margaret signed up to work the same station.  Since we got there early we took pictures to pass the time!
Missy and me!
Me, Missy, Margaret, Sarah and Lorin! Some of my closest friends!

Margaret, Foley and me.  The Napa crew!

It ended up being perfect timing because I got done with my shift and Kenny arrived right at the same minute.  I was so happy to have him there and he was looking so handsome.  He doesn't have a whole lot of opportunities to wear bow ties and I love it when he does.  We bet on the horse raffle and then watched some of the race preparations before the race started! Then went inside to check out what we wanted to bid on for the silent auction!
All dressed up for the derby!

Had to get a picture with our friends Courtney and Casey! We were loving his jacket!
Margaret, Sarah and I hanging out in front of our wine table!
Sarah and me! She is wearing my hat from last year
and the pink version of the actual hat I wore this year!
An outtake!
After the race was over we found a table out back where the band was to hang for a little bit and eat some dinner.
The strawberry shortcake skewered were big hits!
After Kenny and I ate I had to go work one extra shift at the wine bar that I so very nicely signed up for!  While we were in there Kenny got a little competitive over a couple things that we were eying at the silent auction!

Here I am with some of my winnings.  I/Kenny won a bouquet of the month club from a local florist, some honey from Greenwood (came with the flowers) and a Soniccare Toothbrush!  Kenny was so sweet and excited about it all.
The Cooks and the Laceys!
Had to get a picture with the boys, their bright pants and bow ties!

MOTHERS DAY WEEKEND THIS AND THAT

Last week was an exciting and busy week not to mention Mother's Day and my Junior Auxiliary's biggest fundraiser for the Kentucky Derby.  So I thought I would do a little bit of a this and that post along a Mother's Day recap and then a Derby post separately! On Thursday I was so excited to go see the doctor and get my cast off! I was so over the cast and I was also happy to get it off just in time for the party on Saturday.
Saying goodbye to this annoying thing!

I was so happy to see my foot and be able to move my ankle around a little bit.  I was discouraged to see that I still was not completely healed and also have very little strength in my calf muscle which makes it really hard to walk.  Incision picture next....
My poor foot.  Still a little worse for wear.

The doctor came and check me out and rewrapped my foot and they got me all fitted in a new boot.  After I left I went straight to get a pedicure.  I was not able to get my bad foot wet but still got them to make my toes pretty!
Sporting my new boot!

I spent the day on Friday getting a haircut and a spray tan (all in preparation for Saturday's party) and then we took the kids for a treat after we picked Elle up for school. We took them for Holli's Sweet Tooth for some ice cream.  Kenny and I both got milkshakes and Walker seriously loves a milkshake. He was making the funniest faces when we were sharing with him!
Elle and I were having fun with some props they have there.  Such a cute candy shop!
We all got in on the action.
Look at that sweet face! Loving his milkshake.
Twinning with their smiles.

Elle came home with the sweetest binder from her teacher. It was a scrapbook of sorts from her entire year of Pre-K.  It had some questionnaires and self portraits and then it also had a ton of pictures that Mrs. Suzanne had in her room on her bulletin boards.  I was so incredibly grateful for them! Any parent wants to be a fly on the wall when their child was at school so it was so cute to have these pictures of their daily fun!
Front of the binder.
Some of the different pages.

Friday night we all loaded up on the cart to go have dinner at the Country Club. We were taking a risk by taking Walker out past his bedtime but it ended up being a really easy going night and lots of fun!
Family selfie on the cart.
Pictures with Daddy on the way home.  Holding the steering wheel thinking he's a big boy.

On Saturday, Kenny played a round of gold with some friends and the kids ad I spent the morning at home.  I made breakfast and we played outside.  Once Kenny got home we showered and got ready for the party.
Benjamin got to hop around out back while we played and got some loving from Elle.

Sunday morning Elle woke me up with lots of goodies she had made for me at school and Kenny gave me a spa package at our spa that I can't wait to use along with some things that we won at the silent auction the night before.  Somehow despite a late night the night before we managed to make it to early church and then went to Sunday lunch at the country club.  Then because it was Mother's Day we came home and put Walker down for a nap and I put myself down for a nap which was heavenly! We spent the afternoon relaxing and then Kenny and I ordered sushi and watched a movie together that night.  It was such a wonderful Mother's Day and I was so grateful for my sweet children and husband!
Headed out on the cart for some Sunday lunch!
My sweet baby boy!
Getting some eating done!

The best picture we could muster after lunch.  Everyone was looking at the camera at least1
That afternoon both of them wanted in my lap! A Happy Mother's Day indeed!
