WEEK 17

Sorry for no weekend recap. Kenny and I had such a fun weekend. We might of had a little old married couple date night on Friday night as in we went to dinner and did a little grocery shopping. Then on the way home we talked about when we got so old and lame. Honestly though I kind of enjoyed spending the time with Kenny on our date night.

On Saturday we met up with our friends Lowe and Lauren and their little girl Shelton and all went to the Cooper Young Festival in Midtown. It was a lot of fun but the weather had decided it wasn't ready for fall and it was H-O-T. But right at the point where I started thinking we needed to leave we grabbed some lunch at Young Avenue Deli in the air conditioner. After that I felt better.

Saturday night we grilled out with some friends to watch the State game. We were really hoping our Dawgs would play well but that just didn't happen. We will see what happens with the Georgia game. I know we can do it!!

And of course here is the weekly update!

17 WEEKS
Here is what our guestroom/soon to be nursery is starting to look like. Those boxes contain our new crib and mattress and some other things. I reserved our storage unit to start clearing out the guest room soon. We have an attic but we just feel more comfortable putting our stuff in a climate controlled place. Especially since I might be moving my seasonal wardrobe back and forth from the unit since we need more closet space for baby. Once we get the room cleared we will paint and then nursery decorating will commence. My goal is to have it done by or before Christmas so that I can relax and enjoy the holidays.
How far along? 17 weeks 3 Days My my phone app says the baby is the size of a large sweet potato this week.

Total weight gain/loss? I have gained almost 3lbs. Still feeling feeling pretty good about that.

Maternity clothes? Along with the nursery purchases I went on a little maternity clothing shopping spree. It was time and HALLELUJAH!! Maternity clothes are amazing. I guess I didn't realize how truly uncomfortable I was until I got some clothes that fit! I got some really cute dresses for work, some skinny jeans, leggings and a couple of tops. My friend Mollie also gave me some of hers. So now I can just add stuff as I go along.

Stretch marks? None. Hoping it stays that way.

Sleep? The earplugs are helping but I am waking up really early and not getting back to sleep. This morning I was up at 4:45 and finally just decided to get out of bed. I watched last night's episode of Glee again. Ha! It was so good!

Best moment last week? Spending time with friends. Getting our first baby shipments and like I said the gift from baby Jesus of maternity clothes.

Movement? Okay I am pretty convinced that I am feeling baby ALOT now. I love it and can't wait until Kenny can feel it too.

Food cravings? Pickles, Spicy Stuff, Pepper Jack Cheese, Haribo Gummy Bears,(they have to be Haribo) Orange Flavored drinks

Gender? Prediction: Still 100% convinced its a boy. We are so close to finding out!

Labor signs? No. I wouldn't know if I was. Ha!

Belly button in/out? In.

What I miss: I am pretty happy right now. There aren't to many things I am missing these days.

What I am looking forward to: We find out what Baby Lacey is next week! I am so thrilled and can't wait! I have a lot of stuff picked out for the nursery that is somewhat gender specific so once I know what we are having I will start nursery stuff! I'm also incredibly ready to know that this baby is 100% healthy. We haven't seen the babe since I was 6 weeks pregnant so I know that once I hear that everything is just fine my happiness will know no boundaries!

And as always non-baby related notes:
- I am getting to see some of my best friends this weekend and I am so excited! It will be the first time since I got pregnant!
- I will also hopefully be watching the Bulldogs defeat the Bulldogs. And surely you know what Bulldogs I am going for.
- The season premier of Glee was A-MAZING last night! Like I said I already watched it twice and I downloaded all the music before the show started. That show has the ability to make me teary eyed. I am a total nerd!

TUESDAY NIGHT DATE AND 16 WEEK UPDATE

Kenny and I had a Tuesday night date last night and it was so fun and nice to get out and enjoy this cooler weather. The Memphis Redbirds are in the playoffs (really good) and have to play the entire series here in Memphis. The regular sweltering HOT baseball season is normally over by now so I couldn't resist a little summer pastime in much more tolerable conditions. There weren't a whole lot of people there so we just grabbed some BBQ nachos and moved around in different parts of the stadium enjoying the game. Is it bad that I kind of want to go again tonight. Ha! We had fun!

The only problem was when I was getting ready to go. Getting dressed is starting to get difficult. Not only am I totally in between my normal comfy clothes and maternity clothes(which I haven't bought yet), I along with everyone else are also in between seasons. Too warm to wear a cozy sweater but to cool for a dress. Arrrggg! Might need to get my ever growing hiney to the mall STAT!

Anyway here is my weekly update! I am officially 4 months pregnant which freaked Kenny out when I pointed it out. With the holidays Baby Lacey is going to be here before we know it.

How far along? 16 weeks 3 Days My What To Expect iPhone app (yep they have an app for that) says the baby is a size of a turnip this week.

Total weight gain/loss? Alright alright I gained a pound. The doctor was right. Le sigh.

Maternity clothes? As I said above. It is definitely time to start purchasing some maternity clothes. Funny how quickly things can change in a week.

Stretch marks? None. Hoping it stays that way but I did put some moisturizer on my tummy this morning because it felt all tight and stretchy.

Sleep? Getting to be great. I think the problem was that I had all of a sudden become an extremely light sleeper so once something woke me up I was up and I couldn't get back to sleep. I solved this problem very simply. Ear plugs. Worked like a charm! I am now sleeping like a rock!

Best moment last week? Getting to relax with Kenny all weekend and reaching the 4 month mark.

Movement? Not sure. Sometimes I wonder if I am feeling the baby or if it is stomach gurgles. I am becoming more convinced that I think it is baby at least some of the time. But then it is still early for me to be feeling things so I talk myself out of believing that. Ha!

Food cravings? Pickles, Spicy Stuff, Pepper Jack Cheese, Sno Cones

Gender? Prediction: Still 100% convinced its a boy.

Labor signs? No. I wouldn't know if I was. Ha!

Belly button in/out? In.

What I miss: Being able to get dressed without trying on my entire closet to find something that fits.

What I am looking forward to: 11 days until we find out what Baby Lacey is! Kenny and I are pretty close to having picked the official names for both so yay! Also I will be making our first nursery/baby purchases this week. I am planning on buying the crib and the mattress this week and a couple other small things! Ready to have some of that stuff in the house to make it more real feeling.

And something that I am looking forward to unbaby related.....

FALL TELEVISION!! 90210 and Survivor started this week. Next week we get Amazing Race, Dancing With the Stars and of course GLEE!!! I am sure I am forgetting a slew of others but these are what's on my radar for now!

FOOTBALLED (OUT)

Kenny and I had an amazing weekend at home. We are trying to make it a point to take it easy and relax on the weekends we are home and not traveling to see our Bulldogs play. We watched a movie on Friday night. The rest of the weekend we LITERALLY watched football the whole time. We watched SEC football starting with the Gamecocks/Georgia game. We watched Big East football. The Notre Game vs. Michigan was the best game we watched all weekend IMO. Notre Dame threw it away at the end though. We watched Alabama slaughter poor Penn State and then on Sunday we watched lots of NFL football before watching our standard Sunday night shows.

I am not kidding. We watched football all weekend! I love football but I do tend to enjoy the college games more so than the NFL ones. We also grilled out a ton and ate really yummy food!! On Saturday we grilled steaks and I made re stuffed potatoes and then I tried a new recipe which we both went nuts for. Crispy Roasted Brussels Sprouts! Yep. Brussels sprouts.

They were the easiest things in the world to make and only cost a $1. So they quickly became our new fave. Kenny was so sad that I had not bought more.

And yep folks! That was our incredibly exciting weekend! But I have to say I am at work this morning feeling more refreshed and relaxed after a weekend that I have felt in months! Maybe it really was what we needed.

And in case you want to make some of your own Brussels sprouts. Here is the recipe! You have to try them. They get all crispy and taste really nutty and buttery. Delish!

Oven Roasted Crispy Brussel Sprouts
brussel sprouts
olive oil
salt and pepper

Preheat the oven to 400F.
Slice the sprouts in half lengthwise, removing any loose, outer leaves and trimming the bottom stems.
Toss sprouts in a little bit of olive oil and add salt and pepper, to taste.
Spread cut side up in a single layer on a foil-lined baking sheet.
Bake 400F for 30-40 minutes, until browned.
Serve immediately, or store in the fridge for lunch the next day.

15 WEEKS AND THE BULLDOGS!

How far along? 15 weeks 3 days

Total weight gain/loss? Doctor said yesterday that I gained 1 lb. I am refuting this because that is not what my scale says every morning and I was fully clothed and it was the end of the day so I still say NO weight gain yet. (I do understand that I am supposed to be gaining weight and really shouldn't obsess over one pound)

Maternity clothes? Nope. But its kind of fun wearing my regular clothes and having a little bump. You can own the fact that your tummy is sticking out instead of trying to suck it in. Ha!

Stretch marks? None.

Sleep? Some nights are good. Some nights are bad.

Best moment last week? Having my sister and Kenny acknowledge that this pudge on my belly is indeed a baby and not too many baked potatoes. Its a real bump!!

Movement? Not sure. Sometimes I wonder if I am feeling the baby or if it is stomach gurgles. Can't wait to know for sure!

Food cravings? This is my favorite question! Here is this weeks list: sno cones, jalapenos, anything spicy, since we were in Starkville I totally indulged in City Bagel (several times) and the Grill's cheesesticks, and here is the really trite craving...Pickles!

Gender? Prediction: Still 100% convinced its a boy. Even had my doctor calling it a he yesterday.

Labor signs? No. I wouldn't know if I was. Ha!

Belly button in/out? In.

What I miss: The whole alcohol thing was a little tough this past weekend with being in Starkville. Great weather, great game, great friends and I wanted a cocktail!

What I am looking forward to: 19 days until we find out what Baby Lacey is! Kenny and I both went to the doctor yesterday and heard a strong heartbeat. It was at 150 and was much louder than last time. But we are dying to lay eyes on the babe since we haven't seen him since 6 weeks. So my doctor moved our anatomy scan up a little bit and it is at the end of September! I am so excited because we thought it was definitely going to be the beginning of October before we found out! So for now that is what I am most looking forward to. And of course the Bulldogs defeating Auburn tomorrow!!

49-7!!!!
Kenny and I had so much fun in Starkville this past weekend. The Bulldogs looked amazing. I am so anxious to see how we do against a good team. I will be glued to the TV tomorrow night! I wish I could be there!

We managed to eat at our favorite places and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. I mean I can't get over how nice it was. And having Monday off was just the icing on the cake. I did end up feeling pretty sick on Sunday from all the excitement on Saturday. Can't wait for the next game!
