A COLD WEEKEND IN SPRING

We were happy to spend the weekend at home.  We had big plans to be at Dudy Noble Field all weekend but I guess winter wanted to have one final hooray and it was freezing on Saturday and the kids both already had runny noses so we decided to find other things to do. Saturday morning we went to an Easter Egg Hunt at First Methodist where Elle goes to school.  It was so cold outside they moved the hunt inside but Elle still had lots of fun hunting eggs.
Waiting for the hunt to start.
They had Elle's age group in the fellowship hall.  Ever since she was little she has been a very timid egg hunter.  But after seeing some of the other kids get crazy she got a little quicker her in her egg gathering.  Sweet girl.
Tongue out in concentration.  That is a momma trait!
Starting to pick it up.

Enjoying a cookie after the hunt.

We left the church and met up with some friends to play and have a early lunch at Chick Fil A. After that we headed home to play.  Elle and I spent the afternoon pretending to bake egg muffins and coloring. After Easter Egg Hunts Elle always likes to have our own hunts at home.  She hides, I find then vice versa.
Egg Muffins yum!
Cuddling with Lena.
Cuddling with Walker after a bottle.
That night we had some friends over to grill out and watch March Madness.  Literally as they were arriving Walker started feeling terrible.  Wouldn't take his bottle and screaming.  He seemed like he was in so much pain and wouldn't let anyone put him down. Margaret especially enjoyed his pitiful little cuddles.

As everyone was getting ready to leave and Walker wasn't feeling any better and would not let me put him down to sleep in his crib.  I was worried he had a horrible double ear infection and we were going to be up all night.  So I decided to take him to the ER to be seen since we were going to be awake anyway and rather than sit at the walk in clinic the next day.  Thank goodness the ER was totally dead and we were only there from start to finish like an hour and a half.  Total Godsend.  He did not have a ear infection.  He has some sort of virus that was hurting his little tummy we concluded.  He was so sad.  We got home around midnight.

On Sunday, Walker was still feeling pretty bad so Kenny took Elle out for a lunch date and for ice cream before going to play golf that afternoon. Today Walker seems to be feeling much better which I am so thankful for!

SPRING BREAK OR BUST-PART 2

Our very relaxing beach trip continued with some cloudy days.  But that was okay. We still managed to get some beach time and used the rest of the time to do some light shopping and window shopping and walks and just spending time together.  So still lots of fun! There was one day that was pretty cloudy and we did not go to the beach at all that day but the next day was Friday and our last day there before we headed home on Saturday.  So when we woke up on Friday even though the weather was supposed to be the most dismal all week we were bound and determined to get out to that beach so Elle would get just a little more time. We didn't want her to be sad! It was very windy and pretty cold so Walker and I headed back in after an hour or so.  He had had enough but Elle and Kenny got a good three hours in.  So mission accomplished!!

Here are some pictures from the last few days of our Spring Break vacay.
Walker taking a nap on the beach.  Yea right! This last about five minutes until he wanted me to hold him while he napped.  Oh well!
One day(I think our second full day there) it was sunny so we spent most of the day at the beach.  It was pure heaven.  I packed us a lunch and we had the best time.  Elle loves a picnic.  Sandy sandwiches and all!
I love this pictures so much! I love how she is laying on her stomach trying to dig in that hole!

One morning I booked Kenny a massage at the Seaside Spa to treat him after he let me go off to Atlanta for the girls weekend.  While he was there Elle, Walker and I went for a walk and to the playground.  It was the most adorable playground.
Love this picture of my sweet girl!
Kenny met us at the playground and then we walked home as it started to sprinkle.
Since it was starting to rain we decided to ride over to Alys Beach and go to our absolute favorite lunch place! George's! Elle enjoyed some ice cream and caramel sauce for dessert.
The boys at George's!

That evening we grabbed some Mexican food from Bud N Alleys taco stand and some margaritas and  took it over to the amphitheater and sat at one of the picnic tables and let Elle played while we relaxed and ate.  That is something we have discovered about vacationing with kids.  It is not fun for kids to go out to dinner at all.  At least at the age they are at right now. So we don't go out out to eat all that much.  But we will go get seafood to go or do something like this to make it fun for Elle.  And it was.  It allowed Kenny and I enjoy each other and Elle had a blast!
While Elle played with Kenny, Walker and I took some selfies.

This was that last cold morning.  They were having the best time.  She would stand right there and he would yank her up over the waves! So cute to watch.

We found this adorable 30A children's book that has lots of the spots that we see all the time.  Elle recognized this one immediately in the book so we stopped to take a picture in front of it.  I think I might tape it into the inside of the book.

No beach trip would be complete without a stop at Duckies and sitting on this duck.
The last night after we went to dinner at Great Southern we stopped and got the hugest slices of cake at Modica and Elle and Kenny both wanted chocolate.  Two peas in a pod.

SPRING BREAK OR BUST!

I was absent from blogging all last week because I was away for some planned and some totally spur of the moment getaways. My best friend from college, Susan had a little girl a month before me and throughout our pregnancy we would talk about how once we had the babies we would have a girls spa getaway.  She has a little three year old boy too so we both have our hands full. So a girls weekend was exactly what we needed.  She is currently living in Charlotte, NC (although she is about to move back to Seattle) and Atlanta is smack in the middle of Charlotte and Starkville.  We checked into the Four Seasons and immediately hit up the hotel bar for some catching up, people watching and amazing cocktails! We then went out for a casual dinner where we had some amazing pizza at a place called Antico.
The next day, we ordered room service for breakfast and drank mimosa we hit up the spa for most of the day and it was so incredible.  Oh my gosh! We were so relaxed! We had this awesome two hour treatment and then we had the entire nail suite to ourselves while we received Moroccan oil manicures and pedicures and listened to the nail girl talk to us about all the famous people she has worked on.  After we left the spa we went back to the room and ordered more room service for snacks and crawled into our beds and watched a movie.  We are total moms because laying in bed and watching a movie is a vacation! That night we went out for a delicious dinner and came back to get into bed. Ha! It truly was an amazing weekend spent with a friend and I we both said we were ready to go home and be mommies again!

I came home Sunday and the coming up week Elle was going to be out for Spring Break so Kenny and I decided at the last minute to take a trip down to the beach!  The weather has been so cold and gloomy we desperately needed some sunshine.  Although the forecast wasn't looking so hot for the beach either!

We decided to leave Monday afternoon and stop halfway which gave me a small amount of time to pack but I managed to get it all done! While we were loading the car my friend Kelly drove by with some of the girls in the neighborhood and Elle hopped on and went cruising!
Caroline, Kelly's niece (not sure of her name), Brooklyn, Piper and Elle

About an hour into the trip I decided we should got to Cracker Barrel for dinner.  We stopped at one in Mobile and we were so disappointed.  Food was terrible, service was terrible.  It was all terrible. So sad! Because it is the ultimate road trip stop.

Walker hanging out in the hotel we stayed at in Pensacola.

The next morning we rode over to Seaside in hopes we could check into our cottage early because the sun was actually shining that day and we wanted to get to the beach pronto!
Our little cottage.  It was on Savannah street maybe three streets over from Seaside square and we loved being so close.  We normally rent a larger house in Seagrove about a mile down the road.

We immediately suited up and headed down to the beach.  This was Walker's first time and of course Elle is an old pro now. Walker was lulled to sleep fairly easily by the ocean waves.  He is a white noise addict.  He has a noise machine and so does Elle.
Relaxing to the sounds of the ocean.
Hanging out with mommy while ole and Daddy played and built sand castles.

Walker taking a killer nap with Kenny on the beach.
Oh my gosh this picture! One of my favorites.  His sweet little smirk and cheeks and chubby legs. Eeeeek!
The next morning we were there.  It was sort of cloudy so we hit up our favorite coffee shop and then went over to Modica for breakfast and their famous fresh squeezed mimosas! The we sat and just relaxed and let Elle play in the amphitheatre and took a short walk.  One of her favorite things to do and it was such a wonderful and relaxing morning.
Waiting on Daddy to bring out the breakfast.
Fun in the amphitheater.
Walker is not amused. My new hashtag on Instagram for these types of pictures because he makes the funniest unamused faces.
Snoozing on our walk.

WALKER MONTH 4

Oh Walker! Month four has been an amazing one! He has become so much more in tune with the world around him.  He is smiling and giggling and have discovered his hands and his voice. I am enjoying him so much! He is sleeping pretty well and sleeping has made all the different in every one's attitudes around here!  He enjoys playing on his play mat and still loves his mobile on his swing.  He hates the bumbo so we introduced the Fisher Price sit and play and he likes that much better. He is still much more needy than Elle was but we are starting to get used to that.  All in all month four was a four one! Here are a few pictures from Month 4!
 Sweet picture with Gramma!
I love Elle's face in this one.  You can just tell she is baby talking him!
 Ha! Covered up with children!
 My sweet smiley boy!

Aunt Tracy came to meet him and get some cuddles.

This is how I get ready these days. Rocking with one foot the entire time.
I am completely convinced he already knows what the camera phone is.  I have so many videos where he will be doing something so cute and I'll whip out the phone to get it on video and he will stop the second her sees my pink phone. Ugg!  These are his unamused pictures.

She was so excited I put him in the Sit N Play the first time.  She took to entertaining him immediately and he loves watching her be silly.
Elle and I spent a snow day morning decorating this princess accessory kit which was so much fun but she thought Walker needed to wear her crown.  I am afraid he has a long life ahead of wearing girly things at the insistence of his sister.
