CELEBRATING MOMMY'S BIRTHDAY

Last week was my 34th birthday and I had an absolutely fantastic week! It actually got kicked off by sweet Elle the second she got home from Memphis from her weekend with CeCe and Nanee. She is so much like her Daddy and absolutely could not stand to wait to give me her gift that she had picked out for me with Nanee. Annie says that she put so much thought into it. They went to a jewelry store and Annie says they looked at every single thing in the store. Then they went to Target to pick out a card and spent a great deal of time picking out the card too. Cards are extra special now because she is able to write a message from her in them. She ended up choosing a necklace that I love and a sparkly cupcake card. She wanted to wait for Daddy to give it to me because he was playing in a golf tournament but like I said just couldn't wait! So I opened it right when we got home and then she was so excited to show him too! I was able to wear my new necklace when I went out with my friends on Tuesday night and she was so happy!
A picture with my girl and my pretty present!

Opening my card first and Walker joined us for the action.
Opening the present!
I loved my necklace! She did such a good job picking it out.

Tuesday night I was so grateful to my friends for getting together all my friends at a restaurant I love in West Point, showering me with gifts and cake and just making me feel loved. It was super fun and I was happy everyone came!
End of the night pic of all the girls!
I love these BBQ crawfish tails and it was the whole reason I wanted to go to Anthonys!
I get so embarrassed when people sing to me. Like really really embarrassed.

Wednesday was my actual birthday and I was so happy to spend it all together with the family. Walker and Elle had school but Kenny and I went to my favorite lunch spot, Aunt Marti's and hung out. Then that night we took the kids out of hibachi to celebrate. Elle chose hibachi because she really wanted them to sing to me and also wanted to catch rice in our mouths. Then Kenny had picked up a Dairy Queen cake because Elle has been dying to get one and my birthday was the first birthday to roll around! We opened gifts and the kids had made cards for me. It was a great day!
My favorite lunch in Starkville.
The kids were playing dress up in my closet before we left for dinner.

NANEE AND CECE TAKE THE KIDS TO MEMPHIS

Thursday night my mom came into town and spent the night so that she could take Elle and Walker to  Memphis on Friday morning for the weekend. Elle can sometimes get sad about being aways from Kenny and me but this time she seemed to be excited and when we were putting Walker into his car seat he seemed really happy about getting to go somewhere too.

So they left Friday morning and got into Memphis around lunch. Then the afternoon they went to the Children's Musuem which was Elle's top request for activities for the weekend. Elle loves the Memphis children so much and she has so many great memories of going there with Nanee. This was the first time Walker got to go too and he had the best time! Their favorite things to do there are this fishing thing and then the grocery store. Which is funny to me because I can remember loving the grocery store part of a children's museum when I was little! I think they wore themselves out and went home to order pizza and hang out at Nanees house.

All smiles!

Checking out!
Picking out some groceries.

Walker loved all the balls and tubes and things.
Climbing all over the police car.

CeCe sent me lots of pictures of Nanee and Elle this weekend! Elle was glued to her hip!

Saturday morning they got up and went to this amazing pancake/breakfast restaurant we like. From the picture it looks like they enjoyed it!

On Saturday afternoon they ran errands and went to lunch at one of our old favorite places we liked to eat when we lived there. Then they took Belle to the dog park.  Apparently Elle loved it but Walker did not like it as much because a puppy jumped on him. He gets kind of nervous around high energy dogs because he was used to Lena who was very big but also slow moving because she was so old.

Frozen yogurt after the hot dog park.
Coloring with Nanee.
Elle introduced Nanee to her current favorite movies right now, The Descendants.
Elle and Walker supposedly got a long all weekend. It is amazing
what happens when Mommy and Daddy aren't there.
Doing some grocery shopping with Nannee before they left to come home.

Kenny and I had a great weekend while the kids were having all the fun in Memphis. On Friday we ran some errands and then went to lunch at Old Waverly and then went and got pedicures together before Kenny went to play some practice golf and then the Calcutta for this weekend's big Three Man Tournament. I chose to stay home and just relax and went to bed early.  Saturday morning Kenny got up early to play in the tournament and I layed out at the pool for a little while. We went and got a ice cream cone when he got home from playing and then took a cat nap before we showered and got ready. Kenny played in the tournament with our friends Jack and his dad so Missy and Jack came over for a pre game cocktail before we went to the club for the steak dinner which is always fun! They do door prizes for all the girls and they have so many a lot of people win! I won 3 $20 dollar gift cards to Buffalo Wild Wings which will be great for Cowboy games and Missy won a hair dryer she was excited about. They also do a draw down but I didn't have the lucky tickets this year! We didn't stay too late since Kenny had to play early Sunday.  But we had lots of fun!

Update! Kenny and his team won their flight so he came home with cash money! He was so excited with the win!

ELLE'S FIRST DAY OF FIRST GRADE

It was Elle's turn for the official start of school! The day before school started our school had Meet the Teacher. Elle was so excited to have Mrs. Cappleman this year. She is the quintessential first grade teacher.  Our weather has been pretty terrible this week and this day was no different. It was pouring rain all morning but we suited up in our raincoats and headed out!

Elle was really really excited to go see her new classroom and meet her. I had already told her how cool her desk was!  Kenny was working that morning so Walker got to go with us too. Elle enjoyed talking to Mrs. Cappleman and we of course took some pictures and we took a little tour of the classroom. We checked out her desk and the behavior chart. We didn't stay too long but we knew she would be back in the morning!

After we left the school we ran a few errands and picked up our grocery order before we drove through Chick Fil A for a fun lunch and milkshakes to celebrate back to school.  It was a fun day!

Walker checking out some supplies in Elle's classroom.
Although she probaly wouldn't of admitted it. Elle was super proud to
show her brother around and Walker enjoyed being included.
Looking at the behavior chart. Rumor is Mrs. Cappleman is pretty strict so everyone clips down at some point. We've been talking to her about how it is okay when it happens and we how
we just learn from it. She has never clipped down before.
Taking a seat at her new desk.
Cookies and Cream milkshakes from Chick Fil A are the best!

Smiles and a selfie to send to Daddy!

That afternoon Elle and I hashed out what she would be wearing for the next two days to avoid any arguments on the big first day.  Even though she didn't really want to I wanted her to wear a jumper on the first day and we compromised and she was able to pick which one and then she picked out her entire outfit for the next day.  She also chose to wear her new pink Converse high top shoes. We had a big family dinner the night before and everyone went to bed on time!

Elle woke me up at 5:30 and wanted me to help her get dressed which I was happy to oblige because she was following our house rule of no playing or watching tv until you are completely dressed. Plus I just knew she was really excited! Once she was dressed, we had breakfast and went outside for some pictures. Elle looked so adorable for her first day and her excitement for her first day was contagious.
So many sweet pictures!

Selfie with Mommy. Love her so much!

Showing off her new shoes!
Walker finished his breakfast and wanted to come join in on the
picture taking. Love this picture of the two of them.
Jumping with excitement.
Genuine hugs and love!
Daddy was out of the shower so had to get some pictures with him too!

One last family shot before we all hopped in the car.

On the first day of school, parents are permitted to walk their children in if the kids want you to. I am so happy Elle still wants me to. So she and I found a parking spot and headed for her class. We ran into some friends and snapped a quick picture. I thought we were somewhat early but most of her class was already sitting at their desks when we got to the classroom. So I helped her hang up her backpack and then walked her to her desk. I sat her down and gave her big hugs and kisses and then had to go. As I walked out I turned and she turned back and looked at me and I blew her a kiss.  I got a little choked up then. Sad that time is passing so quickly but so excited for her new adventure!

After I left the school I met up with a bunch of friends and fellow moms at City Bagel for breakfast before I ran a few errands and then went back to get into the carpool line to get Elle. The first day was only a half day. I had to get in line early so we would have time to go get Walker at PDO. She got in the car happy! She had a great day! Although she did say they had to sit in their desks and listen to Mrs. Cappleman talk for a long time and it was soooo boring. Poor thing! First grade is going to be a little bit of an adjustment I am afraid! All in all it was a great day and we celebrated that evening with a big family dinner where she could tell us all about it!
Elle with two of her besties Audrey and Ella. They did not plan to dress alike but it sure was cute!
Elle and Collier. Their desks are diagonal from each other for now!
