WEEKEND UPDATE AND A GIRLS TRIP TO WICKED

I guess I will keep saying it until I get caught up but I am behind on posting so this weekend update is  almost two weeks ago but it was a super fun one so here we go!

One Friday Starkville Academy let everyone wear maroon in support of ours girls basketball team that was playing in the March Madness tournament and doing really well! The picture below was one that was posted to the school's Facebook page.
Collier, Elle and Audrey Caroline

Elle has decided she wants to play softball this season so that Saturday her and Kenny had a little daddy daughter time. They went and got lunch together (she chose Chik Fil A) and then they went to Academy Sports to pick out all her gear! She was so excited when she got home and we spent a couple hours playing outside working on swinging and catching the ball.  She has since had a couple practices and has had the best time and is doing really well. Her first game is tonight and we are all so excited!
All geared up for some practice with Daddy.

Ready to swing!

Later that afternoon Kenny and I got a babysitter and met up with some friends at Little Dooey to eat crawfish and hang out. Little Dooey ended up having a sorority party after a little while so we ultimately changed venues and ended up at The Grill.
Glorious crawfish!
The girls at Little Dooey!

That Sunday morning Elle and I got up bright and early so we could go pick up our friends. We were headed to Memphis for lunch and the matinee showing of Wicked! I have seen the musical many times but this was the first time for Elle. I introduced the music to her a few days earlier and she quickly became obsessed! She liked Elphaba the best and was so excited to see the play with two of her best friends. Missy and I are super close so we were excited too!
Loaded up all the way in the back of my car and ready to go!

Afer a few bathroom stops and some snacks we pulled into Memphis and got lucky enough to find a free parking spot right across the street from the Orpheum. From there we walked down Main so we could eat at one of our personal fave spots, Aldo's Pizza Pies. We always go there before the plays because it is casual and Elle loves that they give you pizza dough to play with. We knew Audrey and Ella would love it too. Plus the food was good!
It was super cold in Memphis that day. Glad we brought our coats and headed to lunch.
Watching the men make pizza.

Playing with their pizza dough.

They got a little crazy with the flour.
After lunch we walked back over to the Orpheum so we could take a few pictures in front of the marquee and then get into our seats.

Waiting to be let into the theatre so we could sit down. Perusing the Playbill.

The only picture we took with each other.

The girls just loved the play so much and I am still amazed even now two weeks later at the details Elle is able to recall from it. She is still listening to the music constantly and still loves Elphaba the most. Being able to take her to musicals makes me so incredibly happy because I loved them at her age and still love them.  As we were walking out we snagged an autographed post with the entire casts signatures for a donation to Broadway cares and Elle hung it up in her room as soon as she got home. She was so happy when she came home and saw Kenny and was telling him all about it.  It was a great day!
The girls with their posters!
Look at that happy smile as she went to bed that night.
