IT'S A LOVE STORY

So I saw some people on twitter and blogger linking up with From Mrs. To Mama for a little Valentine's Day Questionnaire and I thought it would be fun to participate. So here we go!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
Kenny and I will have been together 10 years total in September! A whole decade. I was 19 and he was 21 when we started dating so we have done so much growing up together.

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
We were in the same U.S. History class. I was a freshman and sat with all the other freshman. He being an upperclassmen sat in the back and might of been late a few times. He thought I was cute (so he says) and ended up asking people about me. Eventually he heard that I thought it might be fun to go to his fraternity's formal in Memphis of all places so he called and said "I heard you want to go Fireman's Ball with me?" He swears he didn't say that but he so did. I accepted the invitation and we had a great time and became friends. We started dating the next year when I got back to Starkville for Fall Semester and have been together ever since!

3. If married, how long have you been married?
We will have been married 6 years in May! Our marriage has changed over the years and especially this year with the arrival of Elting. So many things have been learned and all for the best.
4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? We were married in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on the absolute most gorgeous weekend. We seriously had the best weather. Our wedding was probably on the smaller size. Can't remember the exact amount of guests.....100-125 people. It was so much fun and the perfect day!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
Not really. I call him Kenny Fondu, Kenneth Fudge, he calls me Mal. And we might be guilty of the occasional "baby." Ha!

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
His insane drive and passion to providing for his family. He works so incredibly hard and we are so thankful. He is extremely giving and considerate. He is an incredible father to our little girl and she adores him.

7. Tell us how he proposed?
It was the end of fall semester and Kenny was getting ready to graduate and move out of his apartment in the Cotton District. Awwww Lummus Street. How I loved that apartment! He asked me out for a nice date for our last "college" date. He took me to a really nice restaurant in Starkville which is no longer open and then we were going to go back to my house to watch a movie while I studied. He told me he needed to run by his apartment to get some things so we stopped by and he told me to wait in the car. Then he called me and said Lena had made a mess and could I come inside really quick. I stepped inside to a completely empty apartment(his mom and him moved everything out earlier that day) except for it was COVERED in candles and rose petals. EVERYWHERE. He was down on one knee and said some really sweet things and then...he proposed!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
Umm neither? We aren't all that into the typical Valentine's Day stuff. For the past few years it has been our tradition to grill steaks, drink wine and play games. We have quite the game collection and we have played Life, Jenga, Operation and lots of others in the past. One year we made smores in our Chiminia.
9.Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Gah. This is a hard one. Who doesn't love a sunset on the beach. But I would say I am more likely to be popping in a movie on the couch. We are huge movie people.

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day.
Travel the world. Cliche answer but it is the truth. Other things include: see our children off to college, see our children get married, retire together.

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
I pretty much answered this in the previous question. We are going to celebrate Valentine's Day this Saturday by keeping our tradition of yummy dinners and game night.

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
No we don't do gifts for Valentine's Day.

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Give and take. Kenny and I try to have a really good balance of things we do for each other and things we do for ourselves. If one of us is down the other picks up the slack. It is all about give and take.

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you. (okay I couldn't just do one)
